May 4, 2015 – UPDATE – While the Spectrasonics Tech Shop page still showed the “closed for maintenance” message on Monday 5/5/15 I was fortunate to get an email from my HELP REQUEST EMAIL giving me a secret URL for purchase and download (but asking me not to share).
So I ended up purchasing Omnisphere 2 upgrade and downloading the UPDATE and installing it. All went well and Omnisphere 2 is on my PC and working.
I have to admit I have a bitter taste after that bad experience with their website being overwhelmed. They kind of stole the thunder of an otherwise eagerly anticipated update.
A phone conversation revealed they knew they blew it, but in my opinion not as much as they should have.
Personally I feel there is no excuse for having to SHUT DOWN online orders for 5 days to get their act together.
My original message:
May 1, 2015 – I really don’t feel like a VIP. The Omnisphere VIP Upgrade that was supposed to be available on April 30, 2015 is still not available the next day on May 1, 2015. What a bummer.
And they say to check back NEXT WEEK? That’s really weak.
They do have a new “VERY SORRY MESSAGE” on the techshop page though saying that due to the high demand they can’t let me buy the upgrade.
Sure high demand is part of it – but it’s more like they were not ready and are dragging their feet to get a better hosting solution. By the way – if they had a decent hosting provider they could have bought more bandwidth immediately. Certainly not a long wait so they would have to DELAY the launch.
To me as an online businessman that is crazy.
First off they should have had better hosting in the first place so they could handle an unlimited number of orders. Second, they could have easily corrected the problem if it was a bandwidth issue and added a seperate account/server for downloading the software.
That way the purchase would be flawless and the downloads would have no impact on collecting money. Oh well. They blew it.
I wonder how long it will take for me to be able to buy my VIP UPGRADE? Geez. They really blew it.
You’d think that Eric Persing and Spectrasonics would know better than most music and software companies who always seem to release new products only to find their server can’t handle the traffic. Sites are down on the launch day. That’s disgusting.
Omnisphere 2 is the much anticipated update to Omnisphere and it launched today April 30, 2015.
Unfortunately their site has been mostly down all day and I have tried to buy the upgrade several times only to get thwarted somewhere in the process.
I really want this Omnisphere 2 upgrade and have been waiting but this is ridiculous. After hours trying on and off I go back later in the day and sure enough the tech shop is closed has a message saying the site is down for maintenance.
Nice. They had more than enough time to get ready for this and surely the company makes enough money to afford better servers, but instead they go down in flames on the launch day.
Oh well. Frustrating. It’s their own fault. Maybe some day people in the music software biz will figure out their websites are important and can help them make more money by offering satisfying experiences for customers and prospects.
Oh and the phone number listed on the tech shop is “out of service”. Another nice touch. (see screenshot image)
Molekular is the brand new modular multi effects add-on for Reaktor VST has just been released by Native Instruments. It features four effects slots which can house one of the system’s 35 effect modules.
The plugin looks pretty good and fortunately we can download it for free and try it out!
Hi, it’s Mike Liebner here and I wanted to welcome you to my new site for musicians and composers who love to use computers to create sounds and music!
I am a sound designer, musician and composer and love to create new sounds and make music!
The basic goal for this site is to present news and announcements and occasional reviews of products I run across in my daily travels. You can expect videos, audio demos, tutorials, interviews, podcasts as well as live events and webinars when the opportunities present themselves.
I check out a lot of virtual instruments, effects and audio editing/recording software of all types and figured it would be smart for me to document what I have found so that other people can get straight info fast and easy without having to search far and wide for the info.
I’ll also present reviews and insert opinions once in a while, but the main goal is to have a reference of sorts for what’s available for musicians.
While the main focus will be on VST Instrument Plugins (vsti’s) and Effects, I will also be presenting news and info on all types of music making software. If it’s something of value and helps us create sounds or make music I will be on it!
I will need your help to guide me towards the stuff that you’re really interested in so I can focus on what you want.
If there is a type of plugin or software or something specific you think I should look at – please tell me!
I will also be working closely with sound designers, musicans, composers and product owners to go a little deeper and look at how this stuff is being used to create music.
I don’t know about you, but I feel there is a huge void and that it is very hard to find out what electronic musicians are using and how they make music using these great digital tools. Apart from the manufacturers occasionally featuring a musician or composer it’s really hard to find out what our favarite recording artists and sound designers are doing when they create sounds and songs.
I look forward to working with musicians of all types, sound designers, producers, composers as well as product owners and manufacturers of music gear and will be doing interviews as well accepting products to review and evaluate.
If you’d like to get some exposure for your music or sounds or if you have something you created or are a product owner – please get a hold of me and let me know what you have!
Maybe we can talk on skype or record a segment for the site!
I’m looking forward to new friendships and alliances with people who are as passionate about sound and music as i am – so don’t hesitate to reach out!

I hope you enjoy your visit and find lots of valuable information on tools to help you create music! If you are interested in getting exposure for your music or products please Contact me at VST Plugin Labs using our simple contact form!
